About Melissa Pehle-Hill

I am worried about the path my country is following and I know I'm not alone--the popularity
of the Tea Parties and Townhalls all across the country are proof of that.  I know that in 2010 we
can take it back, at least to some degree, at the voting booths.  However, the solution to the problem
isn't to just vote out the incumbents in Washington.  There are some members in the House who are
actively fighting for us, and with us, like Jeb Hensarling and Louie Gohmert.  These two men, and a few others,
are up there doing all they can to stop the disastrous increase in the national debt and  the radical laws which would
take this great country prized for our freedom down a path that would lead us to be just another socialist empire.

We need people like them up there, and in abundance.  The only way to find the right replacements for the
others is not to just vote for their opponent from the other side of the aisle in the general election--that could be disastrous.  As much of a disaster as leaving in Washington those who wish this to become a socialist empire, and as much of a disaster as leaving those in Austin who voted for SB 1440 in this last session (and it passed unanimously) as that would have allowed the state to come and take our children without cause.

Right now our State Legislature and the US Congress either don't get it that we want illegal immigration dealt with by the laws being enforced and strengthened, the borders sealed, the government out of our business and personal interests (including our health care), our freedoms protected rather than taken, and our taxes lowered so WE can pay our own bills and supply what our families need or they just don't care.  The only answer for us is to remove from office those who wish to abide by their own agenda or those of special interest groups rather than follow the Constitution and actually represent the people who voted for them.  If we don't solve this problem, however, it will not go away or subside on its own, it will only get worse.

Yet when I hear so many people who sound as though they are at their wits end and don't want to vote for a Republican because they are the ones who thought the solution to everything was to throw money at it during the previous > administration, and they don't want to vote Democrat because of the push toward socialism presently under way through the leaders of that party I totally understand their dilemna.  In many ways they are both right but the solution < to this problem we face is the primary in March.  That is when this country and state will find salvation or fall further into destruction for that is the time to determine who we have to chose from on the general ballot.

This state and country are facing a crisis which we the people have brought about by holding our collective noses and voting for the lesser of two evils, but we can no longer wait and vote in the general election for the person running on the Republican ticket, or the Democratic ticket.  We need to come out in the primary with all the information we need to determine who we truly want to represent us in Austin or Washington, regardless of party affiliation.   And the only way to do that is to find out where your incumbent stands on the issues that matter to you as well as their opponent and then vote for the one who you believe will actually look out for your interests over the following two years. To do anything else will leave us with a choice made by others who might not > be looking out for the best interests of you and me, and that is a lesson I hope we all learned from the last election.
